TimeGuessr
Estimate both the location and the year of a historical photograph.
Photos & history
The loaded photo offers useful clues, but the location map must be ready too. This early interface combines time estimation with a shared-session experiment.
Pointguessr’s public alpha interface combines a historical photograph with location and year controls. Its menu offers random endless play and a five-round daily entry. The inspected page also creates a guest session and displays player information, indicating a shared-session format.
The photograph loaded during our check, but the map and guess control were not fully ready in the captured view. This is an early version: use the listing to inspect its distinctive interface, and check that your map becomes usable before starting a serious comparison. A complete cooperative game was not verified.
The year slider makes photo interpretation part of the location task. A scene may resemble the modern city only loosely, so look for persistent coastline, street geometry or landmarks. In a shared interface, make sure your intended map point is still selected before submitting.
A visible photograph does not mean the map service has finished loading. Confirm the map and guess control work before studying the whole round.
A coastline or street alignment can survive major redevelopment. Those clues may locate a historical scene better than comparing its shops with today.
A generated guest player name identifies the current session. It does not establish saved history or cross-device progress.
