Identify a country or territory from its silhouette, using distance and direction clues.
Daily puzzles
A familiar bowl is only one clue. Compare its ingredients and cooking method, then distinguish the dish’s assigned origin from places where it is eaten today.
FoodGuessr connects geography to food through two relevant formats: Classic asks where a dish comes from, while Cuisine Match asks which dish matches a country. The current hub has three daily challenges, but Plate-Off predicts people’s food preferences and is a different kind of task. Configurable Classic play also offers a solo or friends entry beside round and timer choices.
We opened a guest Classic session and loaded its first dish. The interface combines a photograph with ingredients and a preparation description, then accepts a country or region. The dish name is initially hidden in that checked round. Recognizing a meal helps, but the clues also let unfamiliar cuisine become a geographic deduction instead of a pure food-name quiz.
Ingredients, cooking technique and visual presentation form different kinds of evidence. A common staple can suggest a broad region without identifying a country; an unusual herb or local preparation may narrow the field more effectively. In Classic, the country selector turns that interpretation into an answer. Treat the publisher’s assigned dish origin as the round’s target rather than claiming every recipe belongs exclusively to one modern country.
Look for a combination such as the grain, spice base and preparation method. One common ingredient appears in too many cuisines to locate the dish reliably on its own.
The task concerns the dish’s assigned origin, not where a restaurant photo might have been shot. Modern migration and regional variants can make a familiar-looking meal a misleading shortcut.
Classic practices origin deduction; Cuisine Match practices recognizing food associated with a named country. Pick the weaker association instead of treating every daily as the same geography lesson.
You enjoy cultural geography and want image-based clues that differ from roads, flags or country silhouettes.
You want exact map-pin placement or an authoritative history of a disputed recipe. The game uses its own origin labels and country/region choices.
Choose a different game based on the experience you want.
Classic and Cuisine Match explicitly connect food with countries. Plate-Off asks which plate people preferred, so it exercises a different skill despite appearing in the same daily hub.
Yes. We loaded a guest solo Classic round with a dish image and country/region entry. The site separately offers sign-in for tracking scores and participating in leaderboards.
