Virtual travel
Wait for the scene to reveal something useful, then place the camera rather than simply recognizing the landmark in front of it.
CamGuess pairs a live webcam stream with a map. The inspected guest game displayed five rounds, up to 5,000 points per round and two skips. Unlike a recorded walking video, a live feed may change with traffic, weather and time of day while you observe it.
The menu also advertises rooms for friends, though we inspected a solo guest entry. Stream availability is a practical part of this game: an offline camera or an uninformative night scene can make a round harder for reasons unrelated to your geography knowledge. Use the available skips selectively.
The live scene gives you motion without letting you choose a walking route. Watch what enters the frame as well as its fixed buildings. Vehicles, street markings and the relation between water and skyline can make a place recognizable even when a single frame looks generic.
A passing vehicle or changing traffic signal may add a clue absent from the initial frame. Inspect movement before using a skip.
Work out whether you are looking from a waterfront, tower or road junction. The camera position may differ from the landmark it faces.
A dark or offline feed can provide almost no evidence. Save the limited skips for those cases rather than an ordinary difficult city.
You enjoy observing real places as they change and want map-pin scoring from live footage.
You need identical footage for a fair timed comparison. Live streams and availability can change between sessions.
